What do the reading plans look like?

I just finished up hosting a booth at the Teach Them Diligently conference in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I loved being there and meeting so many wonderful people. I realized, as I explained the reading plans to people, that I need to have more visuals, so that people understand what they are getting when they purchase one of the cycles.

The Cycles are in a "Course" Platform

I set up the reading plan cycles in a course platform on a program called Kajabi. This means that each subject is a "Module" with "Lessons." When you login, it will look like this (this is Cycle 4):

These are all screenshots, of course. There's another way to view the modules and lessons. If you click on "Categories," the modules and lessons look like this:

and then, if you click on Apologetics and Worldview, it looks like this:

and then, if you open Apologetics and Worldview (Forms 1, 2 and 3, or Whole Family), it looks like this:

Notice the "4 downloads" link, we'll come back to that. If you scroll down a bit, it looks like this:

and it goes on, with more details about this book and another book.

If you click on the download button I showed above, it looks like this:

And then, let's say you want to click on the download for Missionary Stories with the Millers. This is the first of four pages:

How to prepare for the school year with these charts:

There are a few ways to do it. First, you can print out all of the pdfs like this that you want to use, and put them in a binder. Perhaps you will have a binder for your read aloud titles, and then a binder for each student in your family who is reading independently.

If having single pages for each book & term feels like too much printing or too many pages to put in a binder, no worries! You can get a customized spreadsheet that looks something like this:

Full Subject Spreadsheets Coming Soon!

I am working hard on some spreadsheets that include all of the resources for each subject on a single (multiple page) spreadsheet. I'm going to show you what I mean, by pasting screenshots of the Cycle 4 Term 1 Bible, Memory Work and Apologetics resources. Now, imagine: every single subject has this many resources or MORE. History and science are FULL of great resources!! This is a robust curriculum that can be used on its own or to supplement another curriculum.

I plan to have full spreadsheets finished and in each of the reading cycles, available for download, by May 15.

Why are there SO many resources included?

Personally, I've always had a hard time with curriculum plans that tell me exactly what to read to my kids for every single subject. I like to personalize it a bit. I have provided several options, so that you can make this next school year everything you want it to be. I want your family to be able to study subjects all together, with books that work best for you.

What if the amount of options feel overwhelming?

There is help!

  1. When you sign up for the reading plan cycles, you'll get access to our online community, and you can ask questions there.
  2. You can always email me and ask questions!
  3. Once you narrow down the books you want to use, you can make your own custom spreadsheet, or have me make one for you.

Will you be adding anything to the reading plans in the future?

Yes! Very soon:

  • Full spreadsheets with every resource per subject
  • More chapter books for Cycle 4 (the other cycles have several independent reading options & I will add these to Cycle 4 very soon!)
  • Sample schedules for each form (grade group)
  • Downloadable art cards to print at home (they're made, I just need to upload them!)
  • A BIOGRAPHY module with interesting people & resources selected for each term of each cycle
  • Links to HYMN on Youtube

and someday:

  • More books (I have so many lists and spreadsheets!)
  • Some printed resources
  • And more...I actually have a lot of ideas!!

Whenever I add something to a cycle you have purchased, you'll get an email about it, and you will also be able to find the updates in the Announcements tab:

I hope this explanation was helpful to you! Please comment below if you have any questions!
